Violation Description: Mr B says the Care Provider failed to act appropriately when his mother first became ill and failed to have suitable procedures to deal with an outbreak of a serious infection. Public Health England found the Care Provider's infection control procedures deficient, the Care Provider failed to follow the advice of the GP and wrongly refused to consider a complaint from Mr B following publication of Public Health England's report. It is not possible to say the outcome for Mr B's mother would have been different but for the failures by the Care Provider. However, Mr B is frustrated and had to go to time and trouble to pursue his complaint. An apology, changes to procedures and payment of £500 is satisfactory remedy for the injustice caused.
